Rose Kilchurn wants two things: Segrave Castle and to never again keep any secrets for anyone else. The path to the castle she loves lies through marriage to one of two suitors selected for her by two kings, which she can accept. The second, though, becomes quite a bit more difficult when she meets a third man, shrouded in mystery, who leaves her thinking that keeping a few secrets for him might be worth the trouble.

Tristan de Thierry is heartily sick of living two ridiculous half-lives: bastard in his father’s hall and spy for the French king everyone else. When the chance to accompany his brother to England appears, he leaps at it, fully prepared to see his brother settled, then embark on his own life finally.
